Your project context stays on your Mac.

1. Local workspace data

Scene stores the following information locally to provide its core features:

• checkpoint and reusable workspace names;
• your optional next-step cue;
• application bundle identifiers, window titles, geometry, display references, and process identity;
• supported resource references such as URLs, file and folder paths, terminal directories, and project paths; and
• local restore reports and checkpoint metadata.

Checkpoint files are stored in your macOS Application Support directory with owner-only file permissions. You can delete checkpoints inside Scene or remove the local data folder.

To make saved scenes discoverable in macOS Spotlight, Scene adds only each saved scene’s title, aggregate app/window/resource counts, and a local Scene return link to the on-device Spotlight index. It does not index tab URLs, file paths, window titles, or captured workspace content.

2. macOS permissions

Accessibility

Scene requires Accessibility access to identify, focus, and position windows. macOS controls this permission and you can revoke it in System Settings. Scene shows a locked state rather than pretending capture or restoration succeeded when access is missing.

Automation

Automation (Apple Events) is optional. If you enable deep resource capture for a supported browser, terminal, Finder, or IDE, macOS may ask permission for Scene to communicate with that app. Captured resource references remain local.

3. Free and Pro license data

Scene Free requires no account, activation, or timer. The four-scene limit is calculated locally from the saved scene files already on your Mac. Scene evaluates only the current Free or Pro access state and never runs a countdown.

After you buy Scene Pro, Scene stores the activated license key, its Lemon Squeezy instance identifier, the Scene product identifier, and the latest successful validation time in macOS Keychain so paid access can work offline. Only when you deliberately press Activate, Verify, or Unlink does Scene send the license key plus a random label such as “Scene-A1B2C3D4” to Lemon Squeezy over HTTPS. Scene verifies that the returned product identifier belongs to Scene and stores only the license and instance fields needed for access. It does not send your Mac name or workspace data, and it does not store customer profile or order metadata returned by the merchant.

4. Purchases

Lemon Squeezy acts as merchant of record for direct purchases. It processes payment details, tax, receipts, refunds, and the email address used for fulfillment. DZG Studio LLC does not receive or store your full card number. Lemon Squeezy’s handling of purchase information is governed by its own privacy policy.

5. Analytics and diagnostics

The Scene 1.0 app does not send usage analytics. The website may receive ordinary hosting logs such as IP address, browser type, requested path, and timestamp for security and reliability. The website does not use advertising pixels or build cross-site user profiles.

The website takes part in DZG Studio’s public Planet map. Unless your browser sends Do Not Track, an open tab sends a short-lived random tab identifier, the product name, and an approximate city or region. The map can show an anonymous Scene visit or download start from that area. It never receives a name, email address, order amount, workspace content, or stable user identifier. Live visits expire after about 90 seconds without a heartbeat. Older activity is kept only as a coarse product and location summary for up to 30 days.

If optional app analytics are introduced later, this policy and the app interface will be updated before collection begins. Workspace content will not be included.

6. Website messages and product updates

If you use the Scene contact form, we store the name, email address, message, and product/source details you provide so we can respond. Contact messages are retained for up to one year. They are not used for marketing.

If you separately subscribe to Scene updates, we store your email address together with Scene as the selected product, website language, signup source, consent time, and subscription status. We use this record only for the product news you requested and keep it until you ask us to remove it. Subscription details are not sold or combined with app usage data, purchases, or contact messages.

7. Retention and deletion

Local workspace data remains until you delete it. Deleting a saved scene also removes it from Scene’s next Spotlight index refresh. Unlinking removes the locally stored Pro entitlement after Lemon Squeezy releases that device activation. Purchase records are retained by the merchant as required for tax, fraud prevention, refunds, and legal compliance.

For a purchase-data, contact-message, subscription, or support request, email [email protected]. We may need the relevant email address or order number to locate the correct record. We cannot retrieve workspace data because we do not receive it.

8. Security and children

License and website form requests use HTTPS, and license credentials are stored in macOS Keychain rather than ordinary preferences. The app contains the public Scene product identifier but no Lemon Squeezy merchant API key. No system is perfectly secure, but Scene minimizes what leaves the device. Scene is a professional productivity utility and is not directed to children under 13.
